A garden design expert has advised Brits to focus on structure and ‘layering’ to make their garden stand out and look bigger. Furniture expert Jonny Brierley spoke to Express.co.uk.
The CEO of Moda Furniture said homeowners should pay as much attention to their outdoor space as they do their indoors.
“The style of your outdoor space should require about the same level of consideration as the interior style,” says Jonny.
“Consider layering patterns, colors and materials to create a decor that is uniquely yours and matches your style.”
He suggested popular rattan furniture for a modern feel.
“Rattan outdoor furniture can have both a modern feel if styled with monochromatic accessories or a more traditional feel if styled with rustic throws and cushions,” Jonny says.

“First of all, it’s very important to think about the size of your space and how you want to use it,” Jonny said.
“Whether you’re looking to organize different areas for lounging, al fresco dining, or a designated spot for barbecuing, creating these individual areas will add structure to a garden and create a more relaxed atmosphere.
“There are many ways to zone a garden, whether large or small.”
There are different ways to differentiate these different areas, including color, height, and lighting.
He told readers to focus on storage to increase space in the garden.
He said: “Storage and multi-functionality are the two key elements any outdoor furniture for small gardens should have.”
Also consider buying furniture that can be used in many different ways to increase the potential of your garden.
A garden storage bench can be used as a table or seat, as well as a way to store garden items.
